Welcome to The Travel Niche!

I love travel – doing it, writing about it, reading about it – so when I started delving into the idea of the writing about what I like doing, travel was one of the obvious choices!

From the humble north-east of the UK, I have managed to find myself in around 60 countries around the world. Although, many people have been to many  more, I must confess that my trend these days is to return to past favourites and find out even more about them!

My favourite and most visited countries in the world are Argentina (6 trips), Colombia (4 trips), the ex-Yugoslavia (particularly Serbia and Macedonia), New Zealand, Spain and my own country – the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (as my soon to expire passport reminds me)!

However, my concept for this site is to include all and everything travel related. Additionally; as well as my own experiences, I envisage it to be a resource for anything that you the internet searcher is; well, searching for! So content is not limited to my own experiences, nor to information seen from a purely British perespective.

My intention for The Travel Niche is to cover the following subjects:

Ex-Yugoslavia travel destinations

Other world destinations

Suitcases and luggage

Backpacks and rucksacks

Travel accessories

Travel advice (e.g. languages)

Travel requirements (e.g. insurance and visas)

As the site is aimed at anybody who can readthe English language, you will often find use of words such as vacations as frequently as holidays. But hey, the whole idea of the internet is global and inclusivity!

I hope that you find “something” that helps you, wherever you come from and however you got here!
